From Frecenda Mitchell, new homeowner in Pensacola,
Florida:
“It means a whole lot to my family. It makes
me feel good that someone donated the tile to me because
Habitat is such a worthy cause. I like the tile the
best – linoleum wears out after a little while!
I would ask the people who donated to please come back
and do it again for another Habitat home because it’s
worth it!”
From Jim Dougherty, Vice President of Marketing and
Business Development for Crossville Inc.:
“Crossville is proud to participate on any project
with Tile Partners for Humanity. The Pensacola home
was particularly rewarding since it helped house a
woman and her five children, one of whom is handicapped.”
From Bill Olsen, President, Elite Building Products:
“In the course of business we have always looked
forward to helping good causes and charitable work.
Rarely, however, have we had the opportunity to provide
assistance in the form of our industry experience,
merchandise, and capital to a program so connected
to our industry. We feel that our participation in
TPFH not only allows us to give financially but also
provides us the opportunity to be more intimately involved
with a cause that relates to our industry.”
From Glenn Prehn, Owner, Perdido Home Tile:
“This was our first Habitat project and we were
tickled to do it. We have a close-knit group and we
enjoyed working with Tile Partners for Humanity to
help a new homeowner in our community. The project
went well and that makes it easier for us to want to
do it again.”

| Members of the tile industry donated
tile, setting materials, cleaners, sealers and
installation labor for a Habitat for Humanity home
in Pensacola, Florida. Habitat and the homeowner
requested the tile specifically so that the homeowner’s
son, who is in a wheelchair, could move easily
throughout the new home. Industry partners tiled
900 square feet of floor space, including the kitchen/dining/laundry
area, entry inside the front door, hallway, one
bedroom, and two bathrooms. They also tiled a wheelchair-accessible
shower.
This marked the first house that TPFH partners
had tiled in the Pensacola community, though
the affiliate and partners both said they’d
like to tile more homes. Frecenda Mitchell moved
into the home with her five children, including
LaKesha, 25, David, 21, Marcia, 13, Anthony,
12, and Akeiya, 10.
