From Chip O’Rear, Architectural Consultant for Custom Building Products:

“As I was finishing the kitchen floor in Darrell’s house, I looked up and saw that he was watching me. You could see the happiness and appreciation in his eyes. He said it looked great but the look alone was beyond words. For me personally, if a homeowner thanks me for the little that I do to help them, it means so much more than I could have imagined if I not been involved in the project.”

"Our homeowners are excited about having tile in their homes. Not only is it a beautiful floor covering, it is durable over the years and makes their home investment more valuable." --Ray Maynard, Construction Director, Atlanta Habitat

"Tile Partners for Humanity has made a truly generous donation to our organization. Our homeowners can enjoy tile in their kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms, and what's more, they helped install it, so they learned a new skill in the process." --Larrie Del Martin, President & Executive Director, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity

Industry partners donated tile, setting materials, backerboard, tools, cleaners, sealers and installation labor and training to tile six homes in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh neighborhood in partnership with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Partners worked from late October through early January to complete the homes, which the affiliate built on staggered schedules. The affiliate asked that the industry split the tile installation over three work days so that a number of volunteers could participate. As a result, volunteers installed backerboard on one day, tile on another, and grout on a third. Several homeowners joined volunteers to set tile in their homes. The affiliate also asked industry partners to spend time working with Atlanta Habitat house leaders to teach them to install tile in an effort to make the project a sustainable one.
