Ceramic Tile Institute of America

The Tile Doctor

TPFH is a 501c3 organization that issues tax credit for all donations.

Industry Partners

We need donations of materials, labor and funding to tile Habitat homes and to support our organization. Our material donations include the following:

For use in Habitat homes:

  • Ceramic or porcelain tile for floors and walls: neutral color, no pattern, ideally 12x12 or similar size for floor tile
  • Floor preparation materials, including backerboard or crack suppression materials
  • Setting materials, including thinset and grout
  • Tile tools
  • Tile and grout cleaners and sealers

Donations accepted for Habitat stores:

  • All of the above as well as high-end tile with patterns, colors, etc.

Our labor needs:

  • Labor to install tile in Habitat homes
  • Expertise to train Habitat volunteers and homeowners to install tile

Our financial needs:

  • Contributions to support our continued operations, communication efforts and partner recognition
  • Funding to build a Habitat home in one or more communities of our partners

TPFH is a 501c3 organization and issues tax credit for all contributions. Donations to affiliates, which are used to build homes, are worth up to twice the value of the product cost under IRS guideline 170e3. Donations to stores, which are resold to the public and used to fund new construction, are worth the value of the product cost. Some affiliates choose not to use tile in their homes but still accept donations for their stores. Other affiliates may not operate stores.

We also need a retail value for your donation to include it, in your name, toward our overall pledge to HFHI.

TPFH’s top priority is to supply affiliates interested in using tile in their homes with all of the products and labor that they need. Donations to stores are a second priority.

Habitat Partners

TPFH partners with affiliates who want to use ceramic or porcelain tile in their homes. Our usual involvement with an affiliate includes solicitation of all necessary materials:

  • Ceramic or porcelain tile
  • Floor preparation materials as necessary (backerboard, etc.)
  • Setting materials (thinset and grout)
  • Tile tools as necessary
  • Cleaners and sealers as necessary

We will also do our best to find contractors/installation professionals willing to donate labor and/or installation training for volunteers and/or homeowners.

We usually target the “wet areas” of the home, including the kitchen, bathroom(s) and entryway, but are willing to discuss special needs with individual affiliates. The square footage of these “wet areas” usually amounts to anywhere from 250 to 400 square feet in a given home.

We have asked all Habitat affiliates to complete a survey indicating whether or not your affiliate uses or is interested in using tile. If you have not completed this survey, please click here to do so. You can submit it online, via fax or through regular mail. You can also indicate whether or not your store would be able to use donations of tile or tile materials.

TPFH’s top priority is to supply affiliates interested in using tile in their homes with all of the products and labor that they need. Donations to stores are a second priority.

To start a project with TPFH, please contact Allyson Fertitta at 770-416-0200 or ally@tpfh.com. We will need:

  • A primary contact and all necessary contact information
  • Copies of quarter-inch scale plans for all areas to be tiled
  • A conversation between TPFH and the primary affiliate contact to identify exact areas to be tiled and agree upon amount of material to be solicited
  • Description of affiliate’s ability to pick up materials and/or delivery address for materials

We also ask affiliates to take pictures of donated materials, the tile installation and homeowners and volunteers whenever possible.
