USG Donates Cement Board
When USG introduced the new Next Generation Durock cement board, we were thrilled to work with Tile Partners for Humanity (TPFH) in order to donate a significant amount of our existing cement board inventory. This was a win-win situation for all involved. USG was able to help nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. while supporting TPFH and their mission to “strengthen communities and improve lives”. USG was also able to reduce landfill volume by donating rather than dumping the existing inventory, thus supporting our commitment to the environment. USG strongly believes in and supports Tile Partners for Humanity, the industry’s philanthropic organization, and looks forward to working with TPFH in future projects.
Bay-Waveland Habitat builds first LEED Platinum House
Tile donated by DalTile, installation materials donated HB Fuller Construction Products and backerboard donated by National Gypsum was used in a home built by Bay-Waveland Habitat for Humanity. This home was recently certified as a LEED for Homes Platinum level house. The certification is the highest level the U.S. Green Building Council awards for residential green building, and to date, is the only house in the State of Mississippi to have achieved this level of certification. This is a great example of our industry’s commitment to not only strengthen communities and improve lives, but to help the environment as well!
